Teaching and methodological potential of home reading guides in practical English course

The authors of the article share their experience in teaching philology students Saratov State University Home Reading aspect as part Practical English Course. highlights and methodological potential guides course studies. are made to be used a series original readers form workbooks for four different language proficiency levels: Elementary + (A1+), Pre-Intermediate (A2), Intermediate (B1), Upper-Intermediate (B2). above contain groups tasks on pronunciation, vocabulary grammar, reproduction speaking improve needed competence. develop phonetic competence (transcribing, preparing passage good reading with correct pitch-and-stress structure, learning by heart it out), lexical grammatical (looking up dictionaries giving Russian equivalents active vocabulary, doing translating into Russian, rephrasing it, searching mistakes type), retelling (drilling structures indirect speech skills use while stories), (preparing reports answer given questions discussion stories). (B2) levels text analysis skills, looking types realia texts further analysis. shows forms assessment provided introduces some possible levels.
